This program is designed for individuals with serious and persistent mental illness who have not responded well to traditional mental health services. The program includes intensive case management services, skills building and crisis intervention to prevent re-hospitalization.

Adult Case Management Program
This program offers individuals diagnosed with a severe and persistent mental illness an opportunity to maximize their quality of life, live independently and improve functional skills. To this end, case managers act as helpers, service brokers and advocates - ensuring individuals receive the services appropriate for their day-to-day needs. Services are available at the following locations from 8am to 4:30pm, Monday through Friday.

Social Rehabilitation & Employment Program
This program provides structured therapeutic activities for four hours a day, five days a week, with some weekend and evening activities also available. Program goals are to improve socialization, communication, coping and relaxation skills, as well as heighten personal care, daily living skills, and employability. The following locations are open from 9am to 1:30pm, Monday through Friday.

Amethyst Respite Center:
The Amethyst Respite Center is a 24-hour 7-day a week Therapeutic Recovery Shelter operated by ACTS. Discharge and transition planning is provided by a co-located MHC case manager.
It is a 30-slot facility with up to 10 day length of stay. The program is targeting individuals under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, Referrals are by law enforcement or ambulance only. Provides an alternative to incarceration for those historically booked on open container, public intoxication, substance abuse related loitering etc.
Jail Diversion:
The Jail Diversion program targets severely mentally ill with or without co-occurring substance abuse disorders who are currently in jail on misdemeanor charges. Provides an MHC case worker located inside the Orient Road Jail. Referrals are received from the Public Defender’s office, jail staff, and external sources such as other treatment providers and family. MHC staff presents case in video court, and the consumer is usually released to MHC for evaluation and discharge planning.
Looking Ahead:
The Looking Ahead program is a unique ex-offender re-entry program for persons with mental illness and co-occurring disorders. Case Managers from Mental Health Care, Inc. and Northside Mental Health are co-located in the Criminal Registration Unit with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Department. Eligibility criteria includes: must be 18 year of age or older, must be required to register at the CRU, must have a severe or persistent mental illness, must be eligible for the Hillsborough Healthcare Plan, and must be released from jail/prison within 60 days.
