Mental Health Care, Inc. (MHC) is a private, non-profit organization that was established over 60 years ago by the Junior League and business leaders in Hillsborough County to serve the needs of individuals needing behavioral health services. By providing a full range of behavioral health services, we are helping children and adults in our community who might otherwise not receive these services, master the skills necessary to live healthy, productive, independent lives.
Mental Health Care, Inc. is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations and licensed by the Agency for Health Care Administration.
Today MHC offers 35 programs in 24 locations throughout Hillsborough County averaging over 270,000 client visits/contacts annually.
· Children’s Community Services
- MHC offers over 20 programs for Children & Adolescents
- Services are provided in a variety of settings: home-based, outpatient, and within 66 Hillsborough County Schools, Charter / Private Schools
¨ Adult Services
- Programs include individual and group outpatient sessions, assisted living, long-term and short-term residential programs and supported housing programs
¨ Homeless Services
- Services include a 25-bed emergency shelter
- The Only Homeless Drop-In program for the mentally ill in Hillsborough Co.
- The Only Street Outreach Program that sends case managers to “the street”
- Outpatient and social service programs
- NA / AA , and GED on-site programs
¨ Emergency and Acute Care Services
- Hillsborough County’s Adult Receiving Facility for Crisis Stabilization
- Only Children’s Crisis Center in Hillsborough County
- Units serves acutely distressed individuals in an inpatient setting
- Mobile Crisis Response Team is on-call 24 hours a day and travels throughout Hillsborough County.
